Calamity Jane - 2005

Calamity Jane is a sharp-shooting whip-wieling braggart and tomboy who arrives back in Deadwood City after single-handedly fighting off the indians who attacked the stagecoach. Henry Miller, the propretor of the Golden Garter Saloon, tells her that he is expecting the New York actress Frances Fryer on the stagecoach, but the person who actually arrives is the song and dance man, Francis Fryer. All the men in the saloon are admirere of the famous singing star Adelaide Adams, and Miller is afraid he will be lynched if they discover that the advertised actress has not arrived.

Lieutenant Danny Gilmartin arrives in the saloon, wounded by Indians, and we find that Calamity is in love with him as she patches him up.

Henry Miller now announces his advertised actress, and Fryer performs a number dressed as a woman, but a riot follows when his true identity is revealed. To soothe the crowd, Calamity promises to travel to Chicago to fetch the much0admired Adelaide Adams instead. Wild Bill Hickock tells Calamity that she should find more feminine clothes and ribbons while she is in Chicago, and they argue.

Due to a misunderstanding in Chicago, Calamity actually brings Adelaide's maid, Katie Brown, instead. Katie performs her act, and the men in the saloon are angry to find they have been duped again.

The situation is resolved, and Katie moves in to Calamity's log cabin, where Wild Bill Hickock and Danny are rivals for her affection. More romantic entanglements follow, but the show ends happily with plans for a triple wedding.
